It's official! Mr. T will move

Mr. T called last night. He wants Mr. K to help him this weekend to move his remaining belongings from the shed to his new home. I think he'll have four roommates in the house to which he'll be moving. I looked it up on Google street view, and it looks like a much nicer place than where he lived when he actually lived in the house next door. I am hoping he'll be tidier than when he lived in the house next door. That was really nasty. He had pizza boxes stacked up about four feet high and beer boxes stacked up next to them. Empty beer cans were here and there, and everything was grimy, stinky, and cobwebby, and there was a miasma of cigarette smoke everywhere. That was just in his living room, where he spent most of his time watching TV.

Since Mr. T has been spending the summer in a motel, it is as though he already moved. We've become accustomed to his not living next door, so I guess we will miss him less than if he'd been around every day and then moved out officially one day. The kids wish he'd remain in the shed forever so they could call him over to the fence whenever they wanted to have a conversation. They're too little to understand that he'll be so much better off in a real house.

We don't know what will become of the house next door. We know Mr. T's friend, Mr. L, who actually owns the place is having trouble making his mortgage payments. We don't know if there will be a foreclosure or how this will end. The place is in very poor shape so in the end, either someone willing to live in a wreck purchased cheaply who just lets if fall down around his ears will buy it (it would get their kids into the county school system), or someone who will do major remodeling or who will tear it down and start over will buy it and make it nice again.

So, it will be strange knowing Mr. T is officially gone, even though he's been gone all summer.
