Trouble publishing

Well, I tried to post a couple days ago. It never finished publishing. For some reason it got hung up. I wrote about a huge diarrhea mess my daughter had when she wasn't wearing her diaper. I think it's gone forever and I won't try to describe the mess again.

Hopefully todays post will publish.

N's on spring break. We had some friends from playgroup over today. Everyone but my son got very muddy in the yard. We had nearly perfect (70 °F, sunny) today.

My repaired ceiling was painted today. It's not perfect, but it looks much better without the crack. Hopefully it won't re-crack.

Karen called yesterday. I found out what she wanted for her birthday and have ordered the books from Amazon to be shipped to her home. They should arrive by or on her birthday.

Butt blast!

Well, that's a quite disgusting title, but it describes part of my afternoon.

We are trying to potty train J, and she sometimes wears underwear. Today she wore underwear and a pink leotard. K went into her room and discovered her butt had exploded. He immediately went and got me. J had already gone through a whole pack of diaper wipes, trying to clean herself up. I guess she was afraid we'd be mad if we found out what a mess there was. The poor girl had diarrhea all over the place. It was all over the floor, her bedspread, her legs, her blanket the diaper genie, etc.

We had to wash many things. I wanted to dump her leotard, but Keith said it would clean up fine. I undressed her in the tub and dumped her undies in the diaper genie. She was wiped down with diaper wipes and then scrubbed in the shower. I mopped her floor with the wet jet and dumped the "cloth" on it.

It was the most discusting poopy mess I have ever cleaned up.

Happy birthday, N!

N turned five today. J and I went to his preschool and brought cupcakes for his class. That was fun. He's still at preschool since today is a "Lunch Bunch" day.

J and K are outside. I'll be joining them in a little bit. The weather is still cool, but it's very sunny. I've picked a bunch of daffodils for the dining room.

I called K's sister today. Her C-section is still scheduled for Thursday. She feels fine so it doesn't look like her baby will share a birthday with N, but a lot could happen before the day is over.

Some of my peas are coming up. I think the chickens ate a lot of the seeds, but they missed a few.
Last weekend I planted a little lettuce. That will probably begin to grow in another week.

I spent a lot of Saturday clearing the plants away from the stepping stones in our front perennial garden. Since I had the kids, I've mostly been letting that area become overgrown. This year I'm planning to tame it and force the plants to grow around the stepping stones instead of over them.

My cat just walked by and I grabbed her. Now she's sitting on my lap, purring. This cat is the best one I've ever owned.

Spring is here!

We're in the 60s again today! My crocuses and daffodils are in full bloom. If this weather will last, it really will be spring.

We walked down the road to the creek near us. I was able to find my way through the marshy parts to a sand bar at the edge of the pond where people fish. I didn't know one could even get there without waders.

G and D stopped by this morning and brought us a couple old school desks. One is a little big for J and the other is a little big for N. They could use refinishing. We may see if K's mom will do it. As far as I know, she likes to refinish furniture.

I'm making a bean soup in the crock pot. The house smells good, but usually the stuff in the crock pot smells much better than it tastes. I also bought a top round roast last night, and we'll see how that is today.

We actually made it to church today. I think it's been about two months since we last attended. We've been ill for a long time. Next week is Easter. It will be very crowded. My preference will be to get up very early and attend the early session. Hopefully it won't be as packed as the others. I'll have to see if K is willing. He hates getting up early. I hate crowds.

I haven't even thought about what we'll do about Easter dinner. Since the kids' uncle moved back home, there isn't anyone to invite over for holidays. Even for N's birthday all we are going to do is go to IHOP so that N can get pancakes and bacon and I won't have to.

I told N I'd play Nethack with him on the computer once I got done with stuff so I guess I should stop here and call him over so we can play for a while.

It's Saturday!

K had to work for an hour or so today. He's home now with N outside. I'd like to go outside, too, but J is watching Seaberry Beach Party on DVD, and I can't leave her in the house alone.

I cleaned most of the litter out of my car this morning. There are still a lot of goldfish and cheerio crumbs all over the back seat. I found the kids have bent up my umbrella. I threw it out. I guess next time I go shopping at the fancy stores, I'll be able to shop for a nice, new umbrella. Usually I can't afford anything at those places.

I want to go outside and dig up some beebalm that is coming up between the stepping stones in my garden. I might need to get some dirt to replace it and also to use to pot the plants I remove. I have a friend who may like them.

Well J is ready to go outside now so I'm done here.

I've got it!

I finally figured out why I can't see my new posts in my blog. I've been viewing a cached version of the blog. I hit refresh, and my new posts appeared! (I finally broke down and started reading the blogger help screens.)

This is a record. I think it's two posts on the same day. Perhaps I can learn how to link to other blogs and to put up pictures, but I don't think I'm up for that today. For now I'm just happy I can see that the material I write is getting published.

I had some spaghetti sauce from a jar at lunch. The jar had a "best by" date of last November. The sauce was horrid! I don't think I've poisoned myself, but I'll respect the "best by" dates more in the future.

Tonight, since it is a Friday during Lent, we'll be having fish for dinner. I think it will be some sort of cod dish. I have a recipe that calls for cutting it into chunks before baking. Next Friday is the last Friday during lent, and I can go back to making whatever I want whenever I want. I had a turkey TV dinner for breakfast today. Since K doesn't eat breakfast with me, I don't feel bound by his religious dietary restrictions. At dinner, it would be rude to enjoy a burger while he had fish or macaroni and cheese.

I guess this is enough writing for now. I'll publish it and then refresh my view so I can see it.

Another post going who knows where

Here it is. When I go to see my blog, the last post was from early February. I don't know where the posts are going. Perhaps the blog moved and I just don't know it.

The kids and I went to Jennifer's house today to purchase the Girl Scout cookies I ordered last month. I got the peanut butter sandwich cookies and the chocolate-covered peanut butter cookies, neither of which I'd eat.

Tomorrow we go to Debbie's. She'll give us a couple antique school desks that our her parents if we want them. Her parents are going to move soon to a much smaller house, and they are trying to get rid of a lot of stuff quickly.

I talked to my mom last night.

I'll post this and hope it turns up in my blog one day.

Another day and my posts haven't shown up

This is my third post in a row, and the other two haven't yet appeared in my blog. I'm not sure if this is just me, or if other people using Blogger have this problem.

We went to playgroup this morning. One mom brought Irish soda bread. J and I had a piece. She picked the raisins out of hers.

It was cold and snowy most of the day, but it was too warm for any of the snow to accumulate. I keep hoping we'll get some spring weather soon.

J just did a "magic trick" for me. She pulled a cat ball out of her hat and made it "disappear" by throwing it over her shoulder. She used a Lincoln Log as a magic wand. She's so cute. "Now you see it; now you don't."

Well, I'll push "Publish Post" on this post and see if/when it shows up in my blog.

Where are my posts?

I posted yesterday and the day before, but my posts aren't showing up. I don't know what the delay is. I guess it doesn't make any difference if it takes a long time for the posts to appear since no one reads them (that I know of) anyway.

J and I went to the "party store" and got party favors for N's preschool "party" next week. Mostly I went with a Justice League theme. I think he's been playing Superman lately.

There is a little girl in preschool that N thinks he'll marry when he grows up. She got sent home from preschool yesterday for misbehaving. I've never heard of anyone getting sent home from preschool. I can see his dating will drive me crazy when he gets older. What kind of person gets sent home from preschool?

Trying harder

I'm trying not to go a month without writing again.

It's been a typical day. I had to go to the bank after taking N to preschool, and J and I spent part of the morning doing Strawberry Shortcake puzzles.

I found some alphabet pasta. I made it for the kids, but they weren't as impressed as I had hoped they would be. N just picked at it and played with the letters.

We had a roasted chicken for dinner that I got on sale for less than $3. The leftover meat is now in the fridge, and the carcass will be "cooked" over night in the crock pot with some flavorful vegetables. Dinner tomorrow will be hot dogs since I promised my kids we could have that. I think I'll make chicken soup to go with it, though, so I don't get too hungry.

I need to call N's preschool teacher to find out what I should do about it being his birthday next week. I think we'll probably bring cupcakes. I don't know if I should send them in the morning or drop them off just before the end of the day. I'll probably need to bring goody bags for all the kids, too.

Long time no write

It's been well over a month since last I wrote. It's often difficult to have discipline with this since no one reads it anyway. Also, I've been sick most of the time between Valentine's Day and last week. Finally I got antibiotics and am doing well.

K's out bringing in the eggs and locking up the chickens. We've given away four dozen eggs in the past three days. Friday I took a couple dozen to a friend's house. Yesterday I gave two dozen to Mr. T next door.

We had pressed sandwiches today. My waffle iron has sandwich inserts. The only thing wrong with making pressed sandwiches is that I can only cook one at a time so we really didn't eat together. The sandwiches were very good, though. I pretended they were from Denny's. I guess that says quite a bit about what I'm willing to eat.

We only got three eggs today. Some days we've been getting as many as six (the number of hens we have). I wonder if one of the hens hasn't hidden a nest in the yard.

It's been nice and sunny and looks like it should be pleasant outdoors, but really it's still too cold to hang out in the yard. Maybe next week it will warm up.

I ordered a cake at the supermarket for N's birthday next week.

I got a haircut this weekend. I got a lot of hair cut. It's now shoulder-lenght, and except for the stray grays, it probably looks like Honey Wheeler's hair in the Trixie Belden books.

That's all for now.
